Have You Laughed Today?

Feeling Positive | Why Laughing is Healthy

On the journey through life, regardless of age, we encounter stumbling blocks. At times these blocks appear to be mountainous open-ended, seemingly unresolvable challenges.

Amazingly enough, we seem to cope and most times move on. We evolve, strengthening our characters and personalities.

Though in the process of facing these challenges, we often forget to laugh!

Laughing can be an amazing self-induced feel-good therapy.

Personally, I have consciously chosen to laugh off difficult situations by finding humor in everyday simple occurrences, most of all laughing at myself!

It is recognized that when you laugh endorphins are released, overriding stress, and enhancing positive feelings.

A sense of well-being takes over.

Laughter is like a magnet attracting those close by to feel the same way. The same as when you find yourself smiling, strangers passing by will most likely smile back at you.

Now you have passed the positivity on! It is the best state of mind you can experience.

So go ahead give yourself a good daily dose of humor, it truly is the best medicine. No matter what situation you find yourself in, humor gets you through it, physically and mentally.

Friends, you’ve got to laugh it off! 😁

Lol!!!!

5 Natural and Simple Ways to Ease Tension Headaches

That first sign of a headache coming on is the worst! You know it's coming, but before you reach over for the painkillers, try these natural ways to help prevent and cope with your tension headaches!

5-natural-simple-ways-to-help-aid-tension-headaches.jpg

1. Experiment with a hot pad or an ice pack placed on your forehead.

Heat is known to increase blood flow helping pain and inflammation. Cold decreases blood flow, also diminishing pain and inflammation. You can alternate with both, with five to seven minutes between applications. Soon you will know if the hot pad or cold pack is the most effective method for you.

2. Rubbing arnica gel on the back of your neck and on your temples is another way to help ease a tension headache. Arnica has anti-inflammatory properties that aides with pain reduction.

3. A good soothing cup of tea will help. Ginger, peppermint, and chamomile teas are the all-stars that can be very soothing and helpful.

  • Ginger is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger also aides blood flow to the brain. Studies have shown ginger activates opiates in the brain hence reducing pain.
  • Peppermint tea contains menthol which helps to relax all of the body’s muscles, relieving stress.
  • Chamomile tea has mild sedative properties, reducing anxiety and muscle tension.

4. Diffusing a few drops of lavender essential oil in your proximity can reduce muscle tension and stress.

5. Deep breathing to de-stress yourself consciously.

This is one of my go-to breathing exercises:

  • Find a comfortable place to sit.
  • Begin by breathing in through your nose for 4 seconds.
  • Hold it for 7 seconds.
  • Slowly exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds.
  • I usually repeat this 3 to 5 times.

Yes, my friends, nature is bountiful and endlessly resourceful. 🌿

So let’s keep finding the best simple ways to live a healthier life.

Why Applying After Sun Lotion Is Important For Skin Health

Gorgeous sunny summer days is what we all crave for, to build sand castles with our kids, or venture into water parks. Under the blazing summer sun, we swim, play beach volleyball, some of us paddle board or go surfing. It's a great time to try canoeing on lakes and go river rafting, to take on trails. The list is almost endless!

While it is true that short limited time exposed to the sun can be beneficial, encouraging the production of Vitamin D, but repeated over exposure ages our skin due to UV rays which manage to reach the deeper layers of the skin, hence damaging the cells, sometimes even destroying them. |reference|

Over time this puts us at risk of developing skin cancer, not to mention early skin aging and wrinkles. Of course, most of us know that the best way to avoid these negative effects is to apply sunscreen, wear a hat, seek shade quickly, and to keep hydrating ourselves.

But there is more to be done post exposure to the sun.

Our After Sun Lotion will help keep skin moisturized and hydrated, promoting a quicker recovery from exposure and sunburn. Containing natural analgesic properties, our after sun lotion reduces redness and inflammation. Its content of Vitamin C and E are both powerful antioxidants which reduce the negative and harmful effects of UV rays. This is a great way to replenish and shield our skin from free radicals.

Our organic-natural-vegan after sun care formula can be used for children, teens, and adults.

After prolonged sun exposure, our sensitive skin is in need of the healthiest possible topical care. By making a conscious decision to apply our natural and organic after sun care lotion, you will see there is no need to use lotions with added harmful chemicals which absorb immediately into the epidermis.

Enjoy your summer adventures!!!

Stay well friends,

Elvira

Protect Your Hair This Summer

It's time to hit the waves and chill out poolside! With that in mind, we know the havoc chlorine and extended time in sea water can wreak on your gorgeous tresses.
Nothing is worse than having your crowning glory gain a green tinge, or for your hair to start splitting from over-drying! Here are some tips to help keep your hair fabulous through all your water play:

1. Wet your hair before entering the pool or ocean.

Your hair is like a sponge. If you take a dry sponge and dunk it in water, it absorbs everything. Whereas if you take a wet sponge and dunk that in water, it will not absorb nearly as much. By soaking your hair prior to dipping into the water, your hair won't absorb as much harmful and drying chlorinated or salt water.

2. Apply oil to your hair.

You can apply extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil. The oil helps to repel the chlorine and salt water from penetrating your hair, acting as a natural barrier. Not to mention, this is a great way to sneak in a conditioning treatment!

3. The surest way to protect your hair from color changes and damage: a swim cap.

I know what your thinking...but swim caps have a touch more style than they used to, and some come in cute retro designs with a feminine flair!

So far I have been massaging in coconut oil with great results.

I hope this gives you some ideas on protecting your hair from chlorine and sea water to keep your hair looking shiny and healthy.

All the best,
Ellie
